Top Reasons People Don't Want to Host
These are the top reasons that make people not want to become a JamPads Host
I already have my own website
o Many of our Hosts already have their own websites with a variety of great features, but they choose to use JamPads for the free advertising or to target specific times/dates when they want to increase their business
I don’t want to pay a commission
o It’s understandable to want to avoid paying commission fees. Keep in mind that it’s totally free to sign up on JamPads.net, and there’s no commitment to accept any reservation requests coming from JamPads. You can take advantage of the free promotion/advertising that comes with being part of JamPads, without ever accepting a reservation.
I am already fully booked or 100% utilized, and I don’t want more business
o You must have a very desirable music space, 100% utilization is fantastic! Even if your studio’s calendar is completely full for the foreseeable future, you can use JamPads as a way to expand your business to a higher paying client base and potentially make more money with the same 100% utilization
I have concerns about security, theft, or property damage
o JamPads provides a mechanism to configure a Security Deposit for any listing, but you need to consult with an insurance carrier to ensure you are covered for all potential risks (property damage, theft, vandalism, liability, etc). Here are some music industry insurance companies, and you should also check with your existing insurance company to ensure you have basic coverage:
My space is too small
o You would be surprised at the sizes of spaces that musicians can use! Even a closet-sized space can be used for a solo musician to practice, teach, or record music. You can specify the size (sq ft) of your space when creating a listing, add photos, and set a maximum # of guests allowed so that only clients who are searching for a space that size will contact you.
I don’t have any musical gear in my space
o You don’t need to have any musical gear to list a space on JamPads! Just specify in your space listing that clients would need to bring their own instruments or gear.
I don’t want to create potential noise issues with neighbors
o You can specify allowable volumes in your House Rules to indicate that you don’t want to allow loud volumes in your space. These rules are part of the terms of your rental agreement with clients, so if the client doesn’t honor their part of the agreement you can end/cancel/terminate their session with no refund.
